Carol Pohlig BSN, RN, CPC, ACS, is a registered nurse who is employed as a Senior Coding & Education Specialist in the Office of Clinical Documentation for the Department of Medicine for the Hospital of the University of PA as well as an Independent Coding and Compliance Consultant. She works closely with physicians, NPPs, and their staff to educate them in current documentation and reimbursement guidelines. Ms. Pohlig is a Certified Professional Coder of the American Academy of Professional Coders and has obtained her Advanced Coding Specialty certification in Gastroenterology and Family Practice through the Board of Medical Specialty Coding.
- She promotes coding education on a national level as a frequent speaker for coding issues related to GI, Internal Medicine, Non-Physician Providers, etc. She has written articles for several coding publications as well as the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society and currently serves as the Consulting Editor for Pulmonology Coding Alert.
